Last day...

Today is the last day of the conference and Liz Rochin, Wanda Adams and Helene Zehnder present a live session on their strategic approach for improving patient satisfaction. The room holds 1000 so Rex will be on stage before a large audience.

This is my last entry as I am headed to the airport. It has been an affirmation that Magnet is a treasured designation and worth all the energy needed to get to this place. Rex will keep moving to excellence! Thank you to Lisa Schiller and Jason Papagan for the idea to do the blog.

Great learning and sharing and bonding.

Up early (actually 3:30a) as this is a class day for the troops. Liz Rochin got some free books yesterday by charming the vendor by her interest. Go Liz.

Trey is definitely having a day but not the Trey day we know. Although with capacity alerts every day this week at Rex I know the ED is busy.

I found a couple of posters with ideas we might try. We are thinking of abstracts we can submit for next year.
Great learning and sharing and bonding.

What a proud day for Rex Nurses!

What a proud day for Rex Nurses!  The General Session where the new and redesignated facilities were named just finished. Pride, joy, appreciation and recognition that our nurses are members of a unique club is what we feel. The Rex nurses who are here represent all of Rex and the EXCELLENCE we deliver. But, this award is for all of our co-workers who lock arms every day along with our physicians to deliver compassionate care.
I am so proud to be a part of an organization that values and supports nurses. Our Board of Trustees, David, executive team are proud this day!!

Jumping through hoops

It has begun! Native American hoop dancer. Our folks are psyched. High Point Regional is sitting behind us and we have already been noted as the Carolina nurses!  6400 nurses!

A semester of knowledge garnered in 3 days

Well, our wonderful Magnet Champions\Council chairs arrived late yesterday. We gathered for dinner to plan logistics for today. I want to express that although we are celebrating our recognition in front of 6400 Nurses the conference's real purpose is EDUCATION.  Over the next 3 days Rex nurses will be cheered, attend 135 live sessions, review 120 posters and visit with 165 exhibitors. A semester of knowledge garnered in 3 days.  Today will begin at 7a and end around 10p---but nurses are used to hard work!!
More Later, MLP

"...exceptional things occurring at Rex!"

Talked with the CEO of Concerro, rexflex to us, and he told all at our table that Rex is the poster org for their product.

I invited the CNO from University of WV to come visit. Spoke to the director of the Magnet Commission who was on the call when we learned of our redesignation. She commented that she knows there are exceptional things occurring at Rex!

...at the CNO luncheon

I'm at the CNO luncheon. Just heard a presentation on the Institute of Medicine - Robert Wood Johnson foundation report on the "future of nursing."  We will have a big part to play here. Also, will be getting details on a community case management program from Poudre Valley Hospital in Colorado.

You can feel the excitement growing.

Am at Convention center and wondering if this convention can be held in Raleigh. Lesson learned today is that it is easy to choose the wrong door while talking, blogging and video taping and land up in the MEN's restroom!  Oy vey.

You can feel the excitement growing. Have seen many folks I know.

Up at 4:30

Up at 4:30a as Phoenix is Pacific time 3 hrs behind Raleigh. Our Nurses arrive today and bring with them all the excitement felt by REX! I have a Magnet CNO meeting and Lunch where new information is typically shared.  Helene will attend a meeting for magnet program directors from Magnet facilities. Liz Rochin, Wanda Adams and Helene Zehnder will present a session on strategically planning to improve patient satisfaction. Liz will attend a preconference session on Employee engagement by Gallup organization

Tired and excited...

Helene zehnder and liz rochin arrived this evening. We had dinner with 3 colleagues from Wake med. They are very happy for us. We are tired but excited for the next few days.
